o1. vagabond

For about half of last year, I decided to gallivant around South-east Asia. I never really got to document my travels as I had intended to at the beginning of my trip, and just like the rest of my unfinished writing and creative projects, it's been sitting on my to-do list (and portable hard-drive) begging to be scribed.

What follows is my attempt to recount my journey best I can.

But before I begin, I have to be upfront on something:
I'm really not an expert at backpacking.

In fact truth be told, hard-core backpackers would probably scoff at my journey as it was probably closer to 'flash-packing' than backpacking. But honestly, I didn't really 'backpack' because I had that spirit of adventure and discovery that seem to propel a lot of travellers unto the road for months on end... I had a tough couple of years, and didn't really want to deal with life for a while. So I took some of the savings that I had destined for something else at the time, did the maths and figured it was enough to last me about 6 months in South-east Asia so long as I kept my lifestyle pretty off key and mellow.

Don't get me wrong, I had my fair share of dorms and questionable habitual places, but if you're primarily looking for money-saving travel tips, this blog will probably disappoint. What I do hope to accomplish here is to have some of my memories committed into writing, and provide others a spark of inspiration to evade their problems travel just as other travellers' journey have been inspirational for me. So if you're after a bit of inspiration or a bit of encouragement to finally get that one way ticket, which I hope you do - this blog may be beneficial for you.
